Longmire unsure if Franklin will face Lions after "very minor" hamstring strain

2019-04-28T09:45+10:00

Sydney coach John Longmire is hoping star forward Lance Franklin will be available for next week’s clash against Brisbane at the Gabba.

Franklin was a late withdrawal from the Swans line-up last night due to a hamstring strain.

Although the strain isn’t a serious one, Longmire was unable to say whether the 32-year-old would be fit for next week’s clash.

"It is just a very minor strain and I am hoping he will be OK for next week," coach John Longmire said.

"He had a scan at eight o'clock on Friday morning and it wasn't too bad.

"We spent a bit of time talking about it, umming and ahhing about it, but we just didn't take the risk.

"He was disappointed as he was desperate to play and he is a massive competitor.

"I am not sure how it looks for next week. We hope that he is OK, but we will see how the week goes."

The Swans will be hoping to end their three-game losing streak when they head to the Gabba on Saturday to take on a resurgent Lions outfit.
