The legendary key forward working with Taylor Walker

Nick Riewoldt has praised Taylor Walker for his performance in Adelaide’s win over St Kilda on Saturday night.

Walker kicked four goals and took three contested marks and Riewoldt believes he’s found his confidence again.

“The real standout for me was not necessarily Taylor Walker’s output or his game, he was launching for marks again,” Riewoldt told SEN Breakfast.

“I haven’t seen him do it this year and I’ve been critical of that, but all of a sudden he launched for one in the first quarter and it landed in his lap.

“It was just like it sent of a trigger in his head to think I can launch, I can jump at the footy and he just started to do it.

“You don’t necessarily need to mark the footy when you do, but what it did for his confidence in terms of just being involved in the cut and thrust of the game, he then went on and ended up being the best player on the ground.

“I think it brought his teammates into the game, it brought the ball to the ground and he marked a couple and performed really strongly.”

Tim Watson added a little nugget, revealing the legendary key forward who Walker has been training with.

“You know who has been working with Tex? The key forward whisperer from Arden Street, Wayne Carey,” he said.

“That’s exactly what Carey would be saying to him. Start launching at the ball whether you think you’re going to get it or not.”
