Hawk handed suspension by MRO

2019-04-29T16:45+10:00

Hawthorn’s James Cousins has been handed a one-week suspension for striking Carlton’s Sam Petrevski-Seton.

Cousins was reported for a high elbow on the young Blue late in the final quarter of yesterday’s thriller between the Hawks and the Blues in Launceston.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian deemed the incident as international conduct, with low impact and high contact.

“The guidelines reference the fact that a raised forearm is usually consistent that the strike is intentional, so it was graded on that basis,” Christian said.

“The impact with all the evidence taken in, it was low impact.”

Hawthorn take on Melbourne at the MCG this Saturday afternoon.
