Port Adelaide star Robbie Gray is hopeful of wearing the "prison bar" jumper in the club’s 150th anniversary game next year.
The donning of the famous jumper will depend on a compromise with Collingwood president Eddie McGuire.
Gray says it would be an honour to celebrate the club’s rich history in their traditional colours.
“The players would love to wear it obviously,” he told SEN SA Breakfast.
“There’s so much history at our club and to be able to wear it next year would be fantastic, even for one week, to celebrate it.
“I think the last time we wore it was the final against Richmond at Adelaide Oval which was a pretty special day so it’d be fantastic.
“I think all Port Adelaide people would love to see it so hopefully that can get done.”
The AFL and Port Adelaide’s merchandise suppliers require designs to approve next month.
Seven thousand Port Adelaide supporters have signed a petition to wear the "prison bar" jumper every year in Showdowns and in Anzac Round.
