Report: Cats attempting to lure Giants' Cameron

2019-05-04T11:01+10:00

Geelong reportedly will attempt to lure GWS star Jeremy Cameron, in a bid to secure a key forward beyond Tom Hawkins.

The Herald Sun is reporting the Giants are set to face another salary cap squeeze, with Stephen Coniglio and Lachie Whitfield commanding big money, to go with the recently re-signed Josh Kelly.

Cameron, who grew up in western Victoria, will be a free agent next year, but the Giants are set to try and lock him away to a contract this season, so they don’t lose him for nothing in 2020.

The 26-year-old currently leads the Coleman Medal, seven goals clear of Tom Lynch in second spot.

The Giants are expected to hold further contract talks with Cameron over the next few months.
