Rampe not charged by MRO for post climb

2019-05-11T15:19+10:00

The AFL has opted not to cite Sydney defender Dane Rampe for climbing the goal post on the siren last night.

Essendon midfielder David Myers had a shot for goal after the siren to win the game from outside 50 and Rampe attempted to climb the post in order to get a jump at the ball if the kick was on target.

It wasn’t and the Swans held on to win by five points.

The AFL can elect to fine a player $1000 for shaking a goal post, but the MRO has clearly deemed Rampe wasn’t attempting to do that.

The MRO did not make a statement on the matter and there were no other players charged from Friday night.

The AFL earlier today said the umpires made the correct decision in not awarding a free kick to the Bombers.
