St Kilda aren’t in a position to not be playing talented top-10 draftees Hunter Clark and Nick Coffield, according to Terry Wallace.
Clark and Coffield were taken with picks No.7 and 8 respectively in the 2017 AFL Draft and have played just three games between them so far in 2019.
The young Saints duo were once again overlooked for Saturday’s clash against Collingwood at the MCG.
Wallace thinks it’s time they were given an extended run in the team or run the risk of stunting their development.
“We don’t know the background of why, who and where and how, but you get blokes like Hunter Clark and Nick Coffield as high-end draft picks to your club,” the AFL Hall of Famer told The Match Committee.
“I look at Hunter Clark and every time he comes in, I think he goes alright, and he seems to be the first one to go back out.
“I had a look at the VFL on the weekend, he has it 28 times … I’d just like to see some consistency and continuity of him playing.
“I don’t think St Kilda are good enough, like naturally gifted and talented enough, to be keeping them out.
“I think that personally they need to start playing them.”
Clark, 20, played 15 games in 2018 but has found himself in and out of the side this campaign.
Coffield, 19, is yet to play a senior appearance for the Saints in 2019 after notching 10 games in his debut season.
