Lions snap Crows hoodoo in a thriller

2019-05-18T17:55+10:00

Brisbane has clung on to beat Adelaide by one-point in a thrilling contest at the Gabba.

The Lions almost squandered a 26-point final-quarter lead after the Crows booted the final four goals of the game.

Eddie Betts’ goal on the siren saw Don Pyke’s side fall agonisingly short of a stunning comeback win.

Chris Fagen’s charges move to a 6-3 record in what was their first win over Adelaide since 2012.

Here’s everything you need to know!

The Moment: Crows clash in sickening collision

Adelaide defenders Kyle Hartigan and Alex Keath were involved in a heavy collision during the third quarter of today’s match.

In a brutal case of friendly fire, the Crows duo collided after Keath bravely ran back with eyes only for the ball.

Hartigan was ruled out for the remainder of the contest after suffering from concussion.

The Star: Lachie Neale

Brisbane ball-magnet Lachie Neale brought his own ball to the Gabba.

The prolific midfielder had a monster afternoon, finishing with 39 disposals, 12 clearances, six tackles, four inside 50s and a goal assist.

Neale averages a staggering 33.8 touches per game in 2019 and would have likely added another three Brownlow votes after today’s dominant display against the Crows.

What’s next?

Brisbane travel to Perth to take on Fremantle at Optus Stadium next Sunday afternoon. Adelaide host West Coast at Adelaide Oval next Saturday night.
