Wayne Carey has not missed in his criticism of struggling North Melbourne, describing his former club as a “shambles”.
The Kangaroos slumped to 17th on the ladder after their five-point loss to Sydney at Blundstone Arena on Saturday night, a far cry on their expectations coming into the 2019 season.
Carey questioned the Roos’ recruitment policy after topping up their list with mature-age players such as Jared Polec, Dom Tyson, Aaron Hall and Jasper Pittard.
“I’ve been hesitant to be too critical, but you can’t not be,” Carey told Channel Seven’s Talking Footy.
“They’ve gone backwards terribly since last year.
“They topped up and some of those guys who are actually playing in the reserves and not even able to get a game in this team at the moment.
“They’re a shambles … the Kangaroos right now are a shambles.”
Brad Scott’s side will look to bounce back against the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.
