Champion Data has revealed the top five most damaging midfielders in the competition after the opening nine rounds of the season.
Based on a player’s chain involvements to score ratio, Brisbane captain Dayne Zorko is rated as the competition’s most damaging on-baller.
Zorko, averages 21.1 chains with 32.6 per cent of those chains resulting in scores, despite averaging a steady 21.7 disposals per game.
GWS star Josh Kelly sits second with 27.2 chains with a scoring percentage of 30.1 per cent, followed by Collingwood’s Dayne Beams (24.4 to 29.2 per cent), Richmond’s Dion Prestia (23.1 to 28.8 per cent) and Western Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli (26.6 to 28.5 per cent).
West Coast wingman Andrew Gaff is rated as the least damaging midfielder in the competition, averaging 28.7 chains with just 14.4 per cent of those ending in scores.
Melbourne star Clayton Oliver is the second least damaging on-baller followed by Eagles midfielder Jack Redden, Fremantle’s Reece Conca and Hawthorn youngster James Worpel.
