Fremantle forward to miss rest of the season

2019-05-22T16:55+10:00

Fremantle forward Matt Taberner has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a stress fracture in his left foot.

Taberner, 25, underwent scans on his foot after complaining of soreness following Saturday night’s loss to Essendon.

Dockers GM of Football Peter Bell says a follow-up CT scan revealed the true extent of the injury.

“Matthew had an MRI on Tuesday which indicated at that stage that he had a stress reaction in his left foot, ruling him out for eight weeks,” Bell told fremantlefc.com.au.

“However, a follow-up CT scan subsequently confirmed that he had suffered a stress fracture in the foot.

“As a result, Matthew will miss the rest of the season, and be moved from the club’s primary list to the inactive list.

“It’s disappointing for Matthew and the club, but we know from how he has coped with a long-term injury previously that he will work diligently and professionally on his rehabilitation and be ready for day one of the 2020 pre-season.”

Taberner begun the season in promising fashion, averaging eight marks and booting 13 goals from his nine games.
