Hardwick issues update on Tom Lynch injury

2019-05-26T10:45+10:00

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick believes star forward Tom Lynch will be fit to face North Melbourne on Friday night, after he suffered a corked thigh in the Tigers' 23-point win over Essendon.

Lynch sat out the last quarter of the Tigers’ Dreamtime at the ‘G victory, but Hardwick says this was only precautionary.

The Richmond coach allayed fears that the former Gold Coast co-captain had an issue with his troublesome knee.

"He's just got a corkie," Hardwick said post-game.

"It was one of those situations where we probably thought we had the game in hand.

“We probably took him off a little bit too early, but with a six-day break for next week we thought we'd give him every chance to recover.

"We think he'll be fine for that game (against North Melbourne)."

Richmond also expects captain Trent Cotchin to return on Friday night, after missing the past seven weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Tigers will aim for their fourth straight win when they take on the Kangaroos at Marvel Stadium.
