Melbourne set to welcome back a host of stars following GWS loss

2019-05-27T05:45+10:00

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin decided to focus on the positives of the Demons' 26-point loss to GWS yesterday.

The Demons were down by as much as 57 points during the third quarter but responded with seven fourth term majors to make the scoreboard look respectable.

Speaking to the media post-game, Goodwin took comfort in the fact that a host of stars could return to the senior line-up next week.

"(Jake) Lever, (Mitch) Hannan, (Michael) Hibberd, (Christian) Salem, (Alex) Neal-Bullen, (Steven) May, (Kade) Kolodjashnij, (Sam) Weideman and (Jay) Kennedy Harris are all available next week," Goodwin said.

"That's something we can look forward to in progressing our team, but there were some good signs today as well.

"(Oskar) Baker was a sign moving forward, Marty Hore continues to play to a reasonable level.

"We've got some things that we've got to work on and get better at, but we are getting better as a club. I feel we are, but we're disappointed with the loss.

"We could've turned it up today, but we stuck at it."

The Demons head up to TIO Stadium to face Adelaide on Saturday, hoping to repeat their efforts of last year when they smashed the Crows by 91 points.
