Third time will be the charm for Gary Ablett according to Tim Watson and Garry Lyon, after the Geelong champion was reported for third consecutive week.
Ablett punched Suns midfielder Anthony Miles in the jaw during a scuffle, which MRO Michael Christian will assess today.
“He won’t get off the hook,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.
“He can’t get off now. It’s intentional, high contact, low impact, I think that’s a week.”
Lyon feels the MRO has no choice but to throw the book at the 35-year-old.
“By any reckoning, that is a week suspension,” he said.
“That is a solid punch to the head of a player when there’s no play going on.
“Take away high contact, low impact, all of that, he’s punched him in the head.”
Ablett has been reported for striking in both of the previous two weeks.
The first incident saw him receive a week, before beating it at the tribunal and the second was thrown out immediately by the MRO for insufficient force.
