Carlton has “run out of credits” as a football club, according to AFL Hall of Famer Terry Wallace.
Sunday’s 13-point loss to St Kilda sees the Blues stuck at the bottom of the ladder with one win from their opening 10 games in 2019.
Their latest defeat has heaped further pressure on embattled coach Brendon Bolton who has won just 16 of his 76 games in charge.
Wallace believes patience is starting to wear thin at Ikon Park.
“I really do believe that most people have been pretty kind to Carlton across the journey,” he told SEN’s KB and The Doc.
“I don’t think people have got into Brendon Bolton too much, people see him as a reasonably nice guy. They saw the direction; they saw they had a lot of kids in.
“If you go back and you have a look at the old Fitzroy in their last two or three years and you have a look at Carlton’s numbers, they’re eerily close to what was going on back in those times.
“They’ve just run out of credits as a footy club.”
Bolton’s future as Carlton coach could be decided over the coming weeks, with games against Essendon, Brisbane, Western Bulldogs, Fremantle and Melbourne on the horizon.
