Carlton List Manager Michael Agresta says the versatility of draftee Josh Deluca will “complement” the club’s midfield group.
Deluca was selected by the Blues with the first pick in the AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, after starring for WAFL club Subiaco, averaging 25.7 disposals and 5.3 tackles per game in 2019.
The midfielder was delisted by Fremantle at the end of 2017, but Agresta is confident the 23-year-old will seize his second chance at AFL level.
“We think Josh will complement our midfield and he can play inside, outside and can also play as a small forward,” he told SEN’s The Sporting Capital.
“He’s a lot different player now just with the maturity of him this time around.

“He’ll take time to learn the game plan and find his feet at VFL level initially.
“We weren’t taking a short-term approach with Josh. He is still only 23 years of age and we think he’s got plenty of good football in him.
“No one really goes into a draft thinking short-term; 10-12 weeks. You always want someone that can continue on and have some longevity in the game.”
The on-baller played four games in three seasons with the Dockers after being selected with pick No.68 in the 2014 AFL Draft.
