Adelaide

Brisbane
The Lions have mixed their form in 1st quarters, winning 5 of 9, and conceding 25.5 points. They rank 9th in the league.
Defensive improvement is shown in the 2nd term but scoring slightly drops off. The Lions rank 10th in the league for 2nd quarters.
Brisbane wins most of their games with strong second-half showings. Their 3rd quarter results are ranked 2nd in the league while the final quarter, ranked 5th, has a significant impact.

Carlton

They improve defensively in the 2nd term, having won 5, but their scoring drops off to less than 15 points. They rank 11th for 2nd quarters.
The 3rd quarter is Carlton’s best, winning 5 and drawing 1, and enjoying their closest differential (-31). They are ranked 6th in the league for 3rd quarters.
Things become dire in the final term where they’ve lost 7 of 10. Carlton has the second worst 4th quarter performance in the league.

Collingwood
The Magpies set up their victories with big 1st quarters. They’ve won 9 of 10 while averaging more than 23 points and conceding just over 10. They rank top for 1st quarters.
After sizzling starts, the Pies drop off in the 2nd term. Only three times they’ve outscored their opposition and it is by far their lowest scoring quarter. They rank 14th for 2nd terms.
The 3rd quarter is more stable than the 2nd but still not positive for the Pies. They rank 16th.
After strong beginnings, Collingwood finishes off fairly well with 6 winning final terms. They score the most heavily of their quarters with 26.9 points per and rank 6th in the league for 4th terms.

Essendon
The Bombers have outscored their opposition in 1st quarters on just 3 occasions and are at their lightest for scoring (16.6 points) in this term. They rank 14th in 1st quarters.
2nd quarters improve for the Dons, winning 5, and scoring at 21 points. They rank 9th.
Essendon is more conservative in the 3rd quarter and usually tighten up in defence, conceding just under 18 points (same as their 1st quarters) points. They rank 9th in the league for 3rd terms.
