Carlton part ways with Brendon Bolton

2019-06-03T13:00+10:00

The Carlton Football Club has today parted ways with coach Brendon Bolton.

A staff and players meeting was called for 1pm today, with the news broken of his sacking.

Carlton football boss Brad Llyod met with president Mark LoGiudice in his Queen Street office earlier today.

The Blues have struggled during Bolton’s tenure and their mediocre beginning to 2019 has prompted the board to make the call.

Bolton will receive a payout such is his unique employment agreement with the club.

Carlton currently sit on the bottom of the ladder with a record of 1-10. The club had a percentage in the 90s heading into this last month of footy, where big losses to North Melbourne, GWS and Essendon have sent the Blues spiralling.

It is understood that football boss Brad Lloyd met with president Mark LoGiudice at his city office this morning in the wake of Sunday’s 41-point loss to Essendon.

The Blues have been undertaking a rebuilding phase since Bolton took over in August 2015 but failed to show any form of consistency during his time in charge.

Bolton oversaw 16 wins from 77 games.

President LoGiudice stated a week ago on 3AW that the board was "committed" to Bolton
