Carlton midfielder Ed Curnow admits he does get excited when he hears rumours of Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson being linked to the Blues.
Former Hawks great Ben Dixon told the Don’t Argue podcast yesterday that Clarkson could leave his club at the end of the year.
When asked how he felt about hearing that Clarkson could be on the move to Carlton, Curnow said he was “pretty excited”.
“I think he’d be a great assistant to Teaguey (David Teague),” he told The Oval Office.
“Teaguey’s doing a great job at the moment.”
But Hawthorn swingman James Sicily says he hopes to keep his four-time premiership coach at the Hawks.
“I think his ability to coach a game style and a system and a way that we want to play is just awesome,” he said.
“He’s a great people manager, he knows how other players tick and which buttons to press with certain players to get the best out of them.
“Among other things, he’s a pretty successful coach and I want him around.”
