Port Adelaide coach doubles down on Carlton links

2019-07-09T08:37+10:00

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has yet again denied any suggestion of a move to Carlton.

Hinkley addressed the rumours a month ago and has again rejected those claims after Rodney Eade and Daniel Harford discussed the apparent emergence of him as a Blues target.

Asked if he can categorically rule out that scenario, Hinkley said on SEN SA Breakfast: “Yeah we can.

“We talk about opinions in this game. It just happens.

“They talk about everyone. Last week nobody was talking about me. This week we played well, they mention your name.

“Next week they’ll mention Paul Roos again, they’ll mention John Longmire again, they’ll mention Adam Simpson again, just plucking names. Alastair Clarkson will come up at some point.

“The reality is, if you are happy in your job and you’ve got great support, why would you look at other opportunities?

“For me, I’m very happy.”

Hinkley guided the seventh-placed Power to a 57-point crushing of fierce rivals Adelaide in the Showdown last Saturday night ahead of this weekend’s meeting with the in-form Brisbane Lions at home on Sunday.
