Collingwood skipper has surgery on damaged finger

2019-07-14T15:10+10:00

Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury has had surgery overnight to repair a broken finger.

Pendlebury sustained the injury in the Magpies’ one-point win over the West Coast Eagles on Friday night.

The five time best and fairest winner will face a stint on the sidelines, but at this stage, it is unclear how long he will be out for.

He will meet a surgeon this week to determine a timeline, but it is hoped he will be back in time for the first final in eight weeks.

For now, the 31-year-old will miss Collingwood’s massive clash with Greater Western Sydney on Saturday.

Pendlebury injured his middle finger on his left hand, which is the same finger he cracked in the 2017 International Rules series.
