"Second-worst team in the competition": Cornes slams woeful Dockers

2019-07-14T12:50+10:00

Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes says Fremantle is the “second-worst team in the competition” after going down to Hawthorn in Tasmania by 31 points yesterday.

The loss came just seven days after the Dockers' 91-point belting at the hands of the West Coast Eagles, taking their winless streak to four games.

Cornes believes this form slump has come from a show of arrogance following its win 21-point over Port Adelaide in Round 13.

“It was really average scenes against Port Adelaide from four weeks ago,” he told AFL.com.au.

“I called them arrogant. I stand by that for a club that’s achieved nothing.

“This right now is a Fremantle side who are the second-worst team in the competition.

“Only Gold Coast are playing worse football than Fremantle right now.

“Ross Lyon can say they’re in a rebuild - I don’t buy into that.

“They were in a great position four weeks ago, we were saying they're going to play finals.

“They’ve completely capitulated off the fact that they got ahead of themselves.”

The Dockers will be hoping to end their four-game losing streak with a victory over Sydney at Optus Stadium on Saturday night.
