Adelaide v Essendon
Essendon will lose star defender Michael Hurley to a serious shoulder injury and will be hoping Patrick Ambrose is available to replace him. Untried defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher would be another option.
Captain Dyson Heppell is a chance to return after missing two weeks with a foot injury.
As for the Crows, Josh Jenkins said on SEN SA Breakfast that he expects Tom Lynch to return from the calf issue that has sidelined him since Round 11.
Bryce Gibbs was among their best in the SANFL and could be pushing for a senior recall.
Richmond v Port Adelaide
Richmond ruckman Toby Nankervis is a sneaky chance to return this weekend after being upgraded to a test with the adductor injury tht has floored him since Round 8.
Josh Caddy starred in the VFL and would be a chance to return to the senior side, likely for youngster Derek Eggmolesse-Smith.
As for the Power, they could be in a world of hurt, with Ryan Burton (hamatring), Brad Ebert (knee) and Ollie Wines (thumb) all likely to miss with injury.
This opens the door for Xavier Duursma and Matthew Broadbent to return from the SANFL, while Dan Houston should also step back in.
Carlton v Gold Coast
The Blues will get Jacob Weiteirng back after missing with a broken nose and he will replace Hugh Goddard who had surgery on a cheekbone injury.
Darcy Lang and Paddy Dow could be omitted, but after the win over Sydney, it’s hard to see the Blues making forced changes. Josh Deluca, Jarrod Garlett and Alex Fasolo would be those considered if changes are made.
As for the Suns, they lose Anthony Miles to suspension, with Corey Ellis and George Horlin-Smith the most likely replacements.
GWS v Collingwood
GWS lose Stephen Coniglio, but should regain ruckman Shane Mumford.
Jeremy Finlayson should also be brought back in, while Jackson Hately or Aiden Bonar will likely be chosen as Coniglio’s replacement.
As for the Pies, Jeremy Howe and Taylor Adams will come in, but captain Scott Pendlebury goes out after undergoing surgery on his finger.
Darcy Moore will also miss after suffering a hamstring injury, while James Aish hurt his shoulder as well.
Brisbane v North Melbourne
The white-hot Lions could get a significant boost this week, with Hugh McCluggage, Eric Hipwood and Luke Hodge set to return.
There will be some unlucky players who miss out because of it. Noah Answerth, Ben Keays and Ryan Lester could the unlucky ones.
North Melbourne could regain Shaun Higgins (shoulder) and Mason Wood (quad) from injuries this weekend, while Nick Larkey had a scare with heart palpitations against the Bombers.
Fremantle v Sydney
Aaron Sandilands returning would mean Sean Darcy possibly makes way, while Travis Colyer and Sam Switkowski struggled to have an impact against Hawthorn.
Jesse Hogan will not return this weekend according to coach Ross Lyon.
The Swans have to make a ruck change, with Michael Knoll the logical option, but Robbie Fox could also be considered. Putting the 185cm Fox up against Sandilands however may not be a great idea.
Ryan Clarke dominated in the NEAFL and seems likely to replace the suspended Jordan Dawson.
Geelong v Hawthorn
There are concerns over Gary Ablett after copping a knock to his hip last weekend, however he is expected to play.
Jake Kolodjashnij meanwhile is ready to return from a concussion.
The Hawks should get back Jack Gunston after missing last week with leg soreness and he should come straight in for Conor Nash.
Melbourne v West Coast
The Eagles will lose Nic Naitanui once again in awful news for the club, while Jamie Cripps will also miss a few weeks with an adductor injury.
Jack Petruccelle and Jake Waterman combined for 11 goals in the WAFL, while Keegan Brooksby could be considered to lend a hand in the ruck.
The Demons could back in the same 22, but Oscar McDonald and Corey Wagner had strong VFL performances.
St Kilda v Western Bulldogs
Who knows what St Kilda could do in the post-Alan Richardson era, but no one really put their hands up in the VFL.
Dan Hannebery won’t be available this weekend either, while their reasonable performance against the Cats could see an unchanged side for caretaker coach Brett Ratten.
Marcus Bontempelli, who has been in a moon boot, expects to play after suffering an ankle injury in the win over Melbourne, while Toby McLean is likely to miss with a hamstring injury.
The Bulldogs could be bolstered by the returns of Tom Liberatore and Caleb Daniel.
