Melbourne going “hardest” for Fremantle midfielder

2019-07-19T10:06+10:00

Melbourne is set to go hard for Fremantle’s Ed Langdon this trade period.

AFL.com.au’s Mitch Cleary and Cal Twomey discussed the 23-year-old Docker and how his future could lie in Victoria after he put contract talks on hold.

According to Cleary and Twomey, who were answering a series of questions on Facebook, Langdon could end up at at the Demons.

“I reckon he’s bound to Victoria at the very least,” Cleary said on AFL.com.au.

“Melbourne’s coming the hardest for Ed Langdon. It’s hard to see him being at the Dockers. He’s flirted with the opportunity at going home to Victoria a number of times.

“He’s officially put contract talks on hold now. If I was a betting man, Ed Langdon will be playing in Victoria.”

In regards to what would get a deal done for the out-of-contract Langdon, Twomey made his suggestion while also throwing up another Docker the Demons could potentially pursue.

“I think Melbourne will be leading the way as well. Maybe a second-round pick gets that done,” said Twomey.

“An interesting one for that scenario - would the Demons prefer or shift their interest to Brad Hill? It’s looking like he’s out at the Dockers, he wants to come back to Victoria.

“Do the Demons say, ‘Ed, we’re a big fan of you, but Brad, you’re the priority’.

“He’s a really good player, Ed Langdon. He’ll have some suitors down here for sure. Collingwood of course, his brother (Tom), the link there too.”

Langdon has played 62 games over five seasons with Freo, finishing fourth in the Best and Fairest last season.
