Cleary's massive trade update: Coniglio, Moore, Tipungwuti, Crouch, Kelly and more

2019-08-02T19:35+10:00

AFL Nation’s Mitch Cleary has provided a comprehensive update on a number of key players in the upcoming trade period.

The Dogs are loading up, there could be a new leader in the Stephen Coniglio race and much, much more.

See the updates below:

The Bulldogs are eyeing Collingwood’s salary cap squeeze

“They (the Bulldogs) have cash and they’re seriously going after some big names and the latest is Darcy Moore,” Cleary told AFL Nation.

“He’s got next year to run at the Pies, but the Pies have got a squeeze on. Not only Darcy Moore, Jordan de Goey comes out of contract next year as well as Brodie Grundy, Mason Cox and Scott Pendlebury all contracted until the end of 2020.

They’re trying to push a lot of contracts out like Steele Siebottom and a number of big-name stars are being pushed out to four or five year deals to try and save some money for later.

“The Pies have got a squeeze on and the Dogs are coming after Darcy.”

“The Dogs have the money left over from Tom Boyd. Liam Picken is gone and don’t forget they threw $700,000 at Chad Wingard last year and missed. They’ve got serious money.”

Stephen Coniglio

“This time six weeks ago all the talk was Hawthorn, but I think for the first time in the last fortnight I’ve heard Carlton as much as I’ve heard Hawthorn.”

“He’s got everything in front of him and he has had for the last eight weeks from the Giants. We understand he met with clubs during the mid-season bye and he has everything needed to make a decision.

“He’s a long shot to play again this year, so if it is the Giants, I don’t know what the hold-up is. Every week that goes on, you have to be less confident if you’re GWS.

“Carlton will be the biggest offer. They had that money ($1.3 million) for Dylan Shiel last year and didn’t fulfil it. It could be up to a seven-year deal.”

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti and Sam Draper

“The Dogs are in play here as well, they’re after a small forward as well as a key defender.”

“I think he still stays at the Bombers, but they’re going to have to stump up more money and they’ve got a number of guys they’ve had to pay overs for.

Sam Draper is going to stay. He had strong interest from the Saints. I think McDonald-Tipungwuti will stay and do the right thing by the Bombers, but they might have to pay a little more than they were hoping two months ago.”

Alex Keath

“Another one the Dogs are targeting is Alex Keath. He’s out of contract and he’s 28.”

“They’ve got an interesting situation the Crows, because you’ve got Hugh Greenwood and Keath both 28-year-old’s who are a new to the game. So they’ve got a call to make on both of those guys.”

Brad Crouch

“He’s been asked the question (about a move to St Kilda), but I think he wants to sign a long-term deal at the Crows.”

Tim Kelly

“I still think he’s going to end up in Perth next season.”

Brad Hill and Ed Langdon

“Hill, he’ll have the choice of four or five clubs in Victoria. I think the Saints will have the most money on that front.”

“He’s going to ask for a trade. He has two years to run on his contract.

“Melbourne is interested in Hill and Ed Langdon as well.”
