Sheahan’s mail on North CEO and Richardson’s next coaching job

2019-08-09T10:45+10:00

Veteran AFL journalist Mike Sheahan has tipped Mark Brayshaw to replace Carl Dilena as North Melbourne CEO.

Dilena, 52, has held the role since 2012 but Sheahan believes Brayshaw, a former player and board member at the Kangaroos, is being considered for the position.

Mark is the brother of former North president James Brayshaw and was Richmond’s chief executive officer between 2000-2004.

“Mark Brayshaw is head of the AFL Coaches Association right now,” Sheahan said on SEN Breakfast.

“There’s consistent speculation around Carl Dilena, the CEO of North Melbourne, leaving and growing speculation that he will be replaced by Mark Brayshaw, who’s a former board member at North Melbourne and a former player."

Sheahan is also of the opinion that former St Kilda coach Alan Richardson will join North Melbourne as an assistant to work under new senior coach Rhyce Shaw.

“Rhyce Shaw and Richo have come from the same club (Collingwood) and one of Rhyce’s assistants is Gavin Brown, who was a teammate of Richo's,” he said.

"It just fits, and Rhyce has said he needs a mentor.”

North Melbourne take on league leaders Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night.
