Blue to miss rest of the season

2019-08-12T16:45+10:00

Carlton defender Liam Jones will miss the final two games of the season with a throat injury.

Jones reported discomfort in his throat after suffering a non-displaced fracture of the larynx in Sunday’s loss to Richmond.

The 28-year-old won’t require surgery following consultation with a specialist.

“It is disappointing for Jonesy that he won’t be able to finish off what has been an outstanding individual season for him,” Head of Football Brad Lloyd told carltonfc.com.au.

“Jonesy and our backline group have formed a really strong bond throughout the year – one that will continue to grow with another full pre-season.

“We wish Jonesy a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back and fully fit for day one of pre-season training.”

Jones has been restricted to 13 games in 2019 having suffered a serious concussion in Round 7 against North Melbourne.
