North Melbourne rookie, son of legend quit footy to pursue reality TV

2019-08-14T06:02+10:00

North Melbourne defender Tom Wilkinson has left the club to be a part of the next season of The Amazing Race Australia, according to AFL Media.

The forward has quit the club and will fly out to a secret location this week as filming begins on the show.

Joining Wilkinson is Paul Roos’ son Tyler, who currently represents NEAFL side Southport.

He was taken with pick 41 in last year’s rookie draft, but has dealt with a serious ankle injury that has limited him to eight VFL appearances.

The Amazing Race Australia offers $250,000 prizemoney for the winning team.

AFL Media suggests that Wilkinson explained the situation to the Roos recently, with the understanding that he’d likely be delisted at the conclusion of the season anyway.
