Should the AFL CEO be commenting on player movement? Buckley gives his thoughts

2019-08-14T09:26+10:00

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has weighed in on Gillon McLachlan’s suggestions that Stephen Coniglio should remain at GWS beyond this season.

McLachlan said on Sportsday that he’d “love (Coniglio) to stay” at the Giants, prompting backlash from fans and experts alike, include SEN’s Garry Lyon and Tim Watson.

Buckley would like a bit more impartiality from the CEO of the AFL.

“Does it bother me? I think in his position, you’d want to remain a little more neutral to be honest,” Buckley told SEN’s Whateley.

“But I can understand he’s taking a step out of his CEO’s role and saying this is what I where I would stand personally, so I don’t have an issue with it.

“In the end, the person who has always decided that and has to live his life the way he chooses to live it and make decisions and then live or die by them is Stephen Coniglio.

“We’re all in that boat, we all understand what that is like.”
