Cleary's trade update: Pies, Suns, Dockers and the ruck landscape

2019-08-16T19:11+10:00

AFL Nation journalist Mitch Cleary has provided a number of updates on key players and teams heading into this year’s trade period.

Check them out below:

Collingwood:

“Next year, Darcy Moore, Brodie Grundy, Jordan de Goey, Mason Cox and Scott Pendlebury (are out of contract),” Cleary told AFL Nation.

“They’ve already started to manoeuvre things. Adam Treloar has been pushed out by three years. He’s going to be 32 by the end of that deal. Then you’ve got Steele Sidebottom and these guys getting pushed out so they’re already worried the Pies.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if one falls out. We’ve already linked Darcy Moore to the Dogs, but I’m sure the Grundy talk to the Crows will continue to heat up next season.

“The talk is (Brayden Sier) is going to re-sign at the Pies so that’s another one they’re going to have to fit in.”

Brad Hill

“I think St Kilda will have the most money on Bradley Hill. I think St Kilda’s got a lot of money to play with.”

Ed Langdon

“The talk is still Melbourne (for Langdon), but I think the Dees would love Brad (Hill) if they could get him.”

“(Langdon’s) been on their radar for two or three years.

“The Dockers are pretty worried. He’s put talks on hold until the end of the season.”

Gold Coast

“I think they’re keen on Stephen Hill still, but they’ve got some queries on his body. He’ll do a medical screening of some sort at the end of the season.”

“They’re well into Hugh Greenwood. Hugh Greenwood has been linked to the Suns.”

The Ruckmen

Todd Goldstein: “We think Goldstein will stay at North Melbourne.”

Shane Mumford: “You’d think the feeling would be Mumford stays on a reduced one-year deal.”

Paddy Ryder: The feeling we had earlier was (the Giants are interested in) Paddy Ryder, but (their interest) might have moved to Sam Jacobs. Jacobs has a close relationship with GWS co-captain Phil Davis.

Jon Ceglar: He’s been linked to Brisbane. I think he’s almost fed up and wants to get out from behind Ben McEvoy’s shadow. Stefan Martin has a one-year deal up at Brisbane and that might allow him to play a few more minutes up at the Lions.
