The Blues have replaced him with small forward Darcy Lang, while the Saints go in unchanged.
Weitering’s absence, coupled with Liam Jones being out for the season, means new Carlton coach David Teague will have to throw the magnets around.
Levi Casboult will likely be swung into defence, while Lachie Plowman will also have to play above his size and take a key forward.
Weitering misses with a low-grade groin strain suffered at training.
