Sydney is hoping to stage a big celebration of their club next weekend, with Lance Franklin’s 300th and Jarrad McVeigh’s farewell game both on the cards.
Both are currently recovering from injuries and coach John Longmire provided updates on the duo.
“I think that’s the romantic side of it. The reality can be different, but it doesn’t always line up that way,” he told SEN’s Crunch Time.
“We’re not sure just yet, but we’ll see how the week progresses and we’ll see how (McVeigh) trains and see how Lance trains, get all the information and then make a decision later in the week.
“(McVeigh) will have to step it up this week to get back into the swing of things.
“(Franklin) has been training really hard and training flat out and that’s been a good sign.
“We’ve given him plenty of time because this was a re-do of a hamstring so it has been eight weeks now.
“He’s been training now for a number of weeks and we’ll see how he goes when he trains on Tuesday and Thursday.”
The Swans host St Kilda at the SCG in Round 23, coming off a 53-point win over Melbourne.
