Howe provides update on injured Pies stars

2019-08-19T08:25+10:00

Collingwood found form on the weekend, smashing Adelaide by 66 points in their best performance in months.

Things only get better for the Pies with three stars expected to be back come week one of September.

Jaidyn Stephenson will return from suspension, while Darcy Moore (hamstring) and Jordan de Goey (hamstring) expected to bolster the line-up.

Defender Jeremy Howe doesn’t think de Goey will face Essendon this Friday night, but Moore is a chance to return.

"I think Jordy (De Goey) won't be available this week. Darcy's (Moore) a chance. I think Jordy and Jaidyn Stephenson will be back in the first final, all going well,” he said.

The Pies had consistent performers across the board against Adelaide and Howe believes this will cause selection headaches for the coaches.

“Stephenson will clearly be back. It’s really interesting because on the weekend, it was a strong a performance as we’ve had, and blokes are almost ready to come back in and it’s going to give the coaches a headache,” he said.

“Those blokes, they’re A-graders and hopefully we get them all back and ready to go.”

Collingwood can still finish inside the top four if they beat the Bombers and Richmond loses to Brisbane.

Midfielder Daniel Wells is expected to return via the VFL on the weekend.
