Pair of key position Roos linked to moves out the door

2019-08-21T08:04+10:00

It’s a new regime for North Melbourne under coach Rhyce Shaw and two key position players could be on the way out.

According to SEN Breakfast’s Sam Edmund, Mason Wood is reportedly set to be put up for trade, with Sydney one of the teams interested.

“It’s very likely Mason Wood’s North Melbourne career is about to come to an end,” he said.

“The Kangas are happy to put him up for trade. It’s likely he’s going to be involved in a deal with the Swans, maybe even with the likes of Tom Papley.

“The Kangas have a lot of players in that position. They’re really impressed with Cam Zurhaar, Jack Ziebell plays there as well.”

Young key defender Ben McKay has struggled to break into the Roos side since being taken in the first round of the 2015 National Draft, only managing four games.

Edmund believes he could also be on the move.

“Ben McKay is the other one. Hearing he’ll look for more opportunity as well,” he said.

“He’s contracted until the end of 2021, so he’s got security, but he’s only played the three games this year. Keep an eye on Ben McKay.”
