Crows urged to make monster $1.5m offer for Grundy

2019-08-22T14:33+10:00

Andrew Jarman believes Adelaide should look to prise star ruckman Brodie Grundy out of Collingwood with a monster $1.5 million per season offer.

Grundy has reportedly parked contract talks with the Magpies having been offered a three-year deal worth up to $850,000 a season.

It’s understood the All-Australian ruckman, who is set to come out of contract at the end of 2020, is holding out for a six or seven-year deal.

The 25-year-old South Australian has been linked with a move to the Crows and Jarman urged his former club to open the chequebook for the gun Pie.

“They (Adelaide) were ok for the first half against Collingwood,” Jarman told SEN Afternoons.

“Then the third quarter a guy called (Brodie) Grundy – who we should be offering $1.5m a year to come back home – and Collingwood’s midfield just tore the boys apart.”

Jarman described Adelaide’s 66-point loss to Collingwood as “unacceptable” and isn’t confident about their chances of beating the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.

“On our home deck – unacceptable, that is unacceptable and that’s why I can’t see the Adelaide Crows beating the Western Bulldogs, who are just playing brave football and having a go,” he added.

“The boys just have to turn up and play with some pride and bring effort.”

Don Pyke’s side must beat the in-form Bulldogs in Ballarat and hope Port Adelaide and Hawthorn slip up if they're to sneak into the eight.
