Report: Crows midfielder keen to stay in SA

2019-08-23T10:59+10:00

Adelaide Crows midfielder Hugh Greenwood has his heart set on remaining in South Australia despite interest from other clubs according to AFL.com.au.

Marc McGowan believes the 27-year-old has attracted attention with Gold Coast said to be the club who have shown the most intent to recruit Greenwood long-term.

“Hugh wants to stay at Adelaide,” McGowan said on the Trade Desk on AFL.com.au.

“At the moment he doesn’t have the length of deal that he would like.

“He does have longer term interest from other clubs including Brisbane, Gold Coast and Hawthorn. He hasn’t met with any of those clubs specifically, those clubs have just registered their interest.

“My understanding is that Gold Coast is probably offering the most and may be willing to go three, four years with him.”

McGowan added that clubs chasing Greenwood would likely hold off until the expected revolving door of players takes place at Adelaide post-season and that it may also present a stronger chance for Greenwood to remain a Crow.

“I think they’re waiting to see how it all shakes out at the Crows because there is a lot that is going to happen there I think,” McGowan added.

“If some similar types to leave the Crows are to depart, suddenly Hugh might be a man in a bit more demand within the club.”

Greenwood has averaged 17.2 disposals in 13 games this season with Adelaide.
