Report: Fringe Lion attracting interest

2019-08-23T10:18+10:00

Out of favour Brisbane Lions midfielder Nick Robertson has garnered the attention of rival clubs, in particular the GWS Giants according AFL.com.au reporter Marc McGowan.

The 24-year-old, who has a reputation for his aggressive and defensive nature, has played 72 career games for the Lions since his debut season in 2014 but has since struggled to gain a regular spot in the line-up, only managing four matches this year.

Robertson is out of contract at Brisbane at the end of this season.

“He’s perennially been the 23rd man, the emergency," McGowan said on the Trade Desk on AFL.com.au.

“We all know he’s a high-intensity player, a run-with guy.

“There is interest from multiple clubs and I believe the Giants are one of those.

“It seems an odd fit because they’ve got Matt De Boer, but from what I’m being told they don’t necessarily see him just as filling that role.

“He might be able to fill some other roles and with a guy like (Brett) Deledio moving on… (Robertson is a) really competitive guy and might fit in nicely.”

Robertson was selected in the 2013 AFL National Draft with Pick No.34 overall.
