Garry Lyon is perplexed by the snubbing of North Melbourne key defender Robbie Tarrant from the preliminary All-Australian squad.
The reliable Roo was overlooked by All-Australian selectors with the likes of Harris Andrews, Jeremy McGovern, James Sicily and Daniel Talia making the 40-man squad.
“How did Robbie Tarrant not make the All-Australian squad of 40?” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.
“Is it because he’s not from a sexy club? Is there a North Melbourne person in the media that can be pushing his case?
“Has it come down to that? I think it does.”
Lyon feels Adelaide defender Talia was fortunate to get the nod over Tarrant.
“Daniel Talia has had a better year than Robbie Tarrant, has he? Robbie Tarrant had a better year than Daniel Talia,” he added.
“Daniel Talia has been a wonderful player, he’s been a fantastic player, he hasn’t been that great this year.
Tarrant didn’t miss a game in 2019, averaging 15.8 disposals, 6.2 marks and 6.3 spoils per match.
