Will Longmuir be Fremantle's next coach? Manager provides update

2019-08-28T10:45+10:00

Justin Longmuir’s manager Colin Young says he expects Fremantle to call him within the next seven to 10 days regarding the vacant coaching position.

Longmuir has been touted as the favourite to take the role left vacant by Ross Lyon at the Dockers.

Young hasn’t been approached by the club yet, but is expecting a call soon.

“I think the dust will settle in the next couple of weeks,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“They’ve actually got the board going now, the selection criteria for a coach, so you would imagine that you’re going to get a call within the next seven to 10 days.”

Young admits he hasn’t approached the club himself, something he would usually do, due to Longmuir already having a good relationship with the Dockers.

“Normally you get on the front foot but Justin obviously comes from Fremantle, played for Fremantle, he knows Peter (Bell), he knows the club so I’m sure they’re fully aware of where Justin’s at,” Young said.

“If it was another club, I’d be reading the tea leaves early and getting the resume out.”

When asked if Longmuir had the desire to coach at senior level in Western Australia, Young said his client “definitely” does.

“Hopefully, look, Peter (Bell) will touch base in the next seven to 10 days, they can have the meeting they need to have and if it happens, fantastic, if not, he’ll go through a good process.”
