AFLCA Gary Ayres Award: Five-way tie at the top as Cat and Lion score perfect 10s

The semi-final votes for the AFL Coaches Association Gary Ayres Award are in.

In honour of Ayres – a two-time Norm Smith Medallist with Hawthorn – this award will be presented to the player adjudged by the coaches as the best throughout the finals series.

Inspirational Geelong captain Joel Selwood was awarded 10 votes for his 26-disposal performance in their semi-final victory over West Coast.

Brisbane ruckman Stefan Martin also scored full marks in the loss to GWS, winning 23 disposals, 24 hit outs, 11 clearances, and five inside 50s.

It’s a five-way tie at the top of the leaderboard with Martin, Selwood, Greene, fellow Giant Tim Taranto and Eagle Jamie Cripps all locked on 10 votes.
