Report: Daniher unhappy with Essendon medical staff, wants out

2019-09-25T05:18+10:00

Following Dwayne Russell's story on Sportsday last night that Joe Daniher wants to get out of Essendon and join Sydney, Fox Sports’ Tom Morris has added a similar report.

Morris adds that Daniher has now informed his family and friends of his desire to be a Swan in 2020, despite remaining contracted to the Bombers for the season.

The former All-Australian is unhappy with Essendon’s medical staff and the way they have dealt with his ongoing groin problems, the report adds.

Daniher is not a free agent, meaning the Swans would have to trade for him.

Previous reports have suggested Sydney is unwilling to part with pick four in the draft.

Essendon legend Tim Watson however doesn’t believe the report to be true.

“He may very well go to Sydney, but at this stage he has had no conversations with Essendon to say that is where he wants to go,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.

“At this point, nothing has moved, nothing has changed.

“I don’t believe at any stage he’s said to anyone at the club either that he’s been concerned about the way that his groin injury has been handled.

“That conversation has never taken place with anyone at the club either.”

This story originates from SEN’s Sam McClure reporting the meet-up between Daniher and Sydney CEO Tom Harley back in August and that it was more than just two old mates catching up.
