Why Brisbane want Crows free agent Ellis-Yolmen

2019-09-30T17:30+10:00

Brisbane’s GM of Football David Noble says Adelaide utility Cam Ellis-Yolmen will give the Lions more size and physicality through the midfield.

Noble confirmed the Lions have tabled a three-year offer to Ellis-Yolmen who informed the Crows of his wish to continue his career elsewhere.

Standing at 190cm, the unrestricted free agent played 10 games in 2019 and 39 overall since debuting for Adelaide in 2014.

“We’ve had some interest in building our midfield over the last 12 months,” Noble told Telstra AFL Trade Radio.

“We were lucky enough to secure Jarryd Lyons … and we want to continue to add one of those bigger bodies in there and we’ll put some paperwork in for Cam on Friday.

“It’s a three-year deal and we’re really excited.

“Cam hasn’t been played a lot outside of the midfield … maybe we can pinch hit him a little bit forward. He’s actually not a bad mark for his size.

“I think it was more the physical option for us and to add another dimension.”

Ellis-Yolmen, 26, was selected with pick No.64 in the 2011 AFL Draft.

After winning just five games in 2018, Brisbane finished second on the ladder with 16 victories but were eliminated from the finals in straight sets.
