Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains says contracted St Kilda forward Josh Bruce wants to join the club during the trade period.
It comes after Saints coach Brett Ratten denied Bruce wanted out and that he sees him at Moorabbin in 2020.
Multiple reports have indicated the 27-year-old has agreed to terms on a four-year deal at the Dogs.
“With any contracted player, clearly a club has got to agree to release them and that’s certainly the case with Josh, but Josh does want to come and play at the Bulldogs,” Bains told SEN Breakfast.
“Sam Power and our list management team will continue their discussions with the Saints on what that looks like and being a contracted player, we’ll have to satisfy St Kilda.”
Bruce kicked 36 goals from 22 games in 2019 and has been a regular for St Kilda since joining from GWS at the end of 2013.
Adelaide defender Alex Keath is also eyeing a move to Whitten Oval after requesting a trade last week.
