New name emerges in race for Adelaide coaching job

2019-10-03T18:03+10:00

Richmond assistant coach Adam Kingsley has emerged as a leading candidate for the vacant Adelaide coaching position.

According to AFL Nation’s Tom Rehn, Kingsley interviewed “really well” and is “right in the final frame” for the Crows’ top job.

“In terms of coaches, there's one name I think to keep an eye on. Adam Kingsley I’m hearing is right in it at the moment with the Crows,” Rehn told Telstra AFL Trade Radio.

“Assistant coach at Port, eight years at the Saints, is with Richmond this year for their premiership as an assistant – I’m hearing he has interviewed really well and is right in the final frame.”

Rehn understands Adelaide’s external review will conclude next Tuesday with an announcement on their new senior coach a “day or two” later.

The results of the review are expected to be “pretty explosive” with several senior players having requested to be traded from West Lakes.

“I think on Tuesday we’ll get some pretty explosive stuff that will come out of there,” Rehn said.

“My understanding is they’re going to make some pretty big calls … I think it’s probably the biggest season they’ve had in their 30 years.

“I think it’s almost the most important time in their history right now. They’ve just got to get this right.”
