Daniher tells Essendon he wants out

2019-10-05T15:10+10:00

Joe Daniher has informed Essendon he wishes to be traded to the Sydney Swans.

The Bombers have released an official statement confirming the news.

“The Club acknowledges the reason behind this request from Joe, however he is a contracted player to the Essendon Football Club,” list manager Adrian Dodoro told essendonfc.com.au.

"He is a very highly regarded player at our Club, and we have advised Joe that ultimately we want him playing for the Bombers in 2020.

“We will remain in contact with Joe’s management over the course of the upcoming AFL Trade Period.”

Daniher, 25, has a desire to leave the Dons so he can experience a change of lifestyle in Sydney.

Sydney's interest in Daniher was first reported by SEN's Sam McClure in early August.

Daniher has played 104 games and kicked 188 goals over seven seasons for Essendon but has managed just 11 games in the last two years because of groin and osteitis pubis issues.
