Giants utility joins Melbourne as an unrestricted free agent

2019-10-07T18:09+11:00

GWS utility Adam Tomlinson has officially joined Melbourne as an unrestricted free agent.

Tomlinson, 26, spent eight years at the Giants, playing 140 games and was part of the club’s maiden Grand Final appearance in 2019.

The inaugural Giant averaged 17 disposals and 6.2 marks from 25 matches this year.

Melbourne opted not to disclose the length of Tomlinson’s contract.

“We’re very excited to add Adam to our list as a free agent – he fills a very important need for our team,” GM of Football Operations Josh Mahoney told melbournefc.com.au.

“He’s played a number of different roles for the Giants, but predominantly what we’re looking for is someone who can run up and down the MCG on the wing.

“Adam is an elite runner and at 194cm, he has the versatility to provide us with a number of options, either forward or back.

“With 140 games experience, including the last four finals series, Adam complements the age and games profile of our list and we think he can have an immediate impact.”

Tomlinson was selected with pick No.9 by GWS in the 2011 National Draft.

The Giants will receive a late second-round draft selection as compensation, currently pick No.40.
