Lions confirm fringe duo are seeking a fresh start elsewhere

2019-10-08T12:53+11:00

Brisbane has given out of favour duo Tom Cutler and Lewis Taylor their blessings to explore finding a new home.

They played a combined eight games in a Lions side that not only had great success, but also had an incredible run with injuries.

Brisbane head of football David Noble says the Swans are interested in Taylor and both are looking around for prospective suitors.

“We haven’t had any direct contact with Sydney per se, we know that both Lewis and Tom are probably talking to a few clubs at the moment,” he told Telstra AFL Trade Radio.

“Obviously Sydney has an interest with Lewis. They’re both players we said to them we need to get through the trade period just to assess where we’re at doing.

“It certainly doesn’t mean they’re not required, but to explore their options, which is what they’re both doing, it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

“I think both of those guys will gain some interest and then it will be a matter of whether they decide to head to another club and a matter of getting a deal done for those guys.”

Cutler’s manager Nick Gieschen has confirmed his client is exploring a move to Victoria.

“Tom has had some chats with Brisbane and has expressed a desire to come home and play in Victoria to be closer to family,” he told Telstra AFL Trade Radio.

“We are working through that at the moment. I don’t really have much more of an update as yet, but hopefully over the next week or so we can get a good result for Tom that allows him to play footy in Melbourne.

“I don’t really want to confirm which club or clubs we are talking to. I don’t have anywhere specific for him yet.”
