Several Victorian clubs feel prized Sun is obtainable: Twomey

Jack Lukosius will be a player in demand if he doesn’t decide to re-sign with Gold Coast beyond next year.

Lukosius’ mandatory two-year contract expires in 2020 with the Suns hoping to ward off potential interest from South Australian clubs by tying him down to a fresh long-term deal.

But Adelaide and Port Adelaide won’t be the only clubs circling the 19-year-old key position prospect.

According to AFL.com.au’s Cam Twomey, several Victorian clubs believe Lukosius is obtainable if he decides to explore his options.

“They’re both (Lukosius) so happy up there at the moment and what the club has provided them in the first 12 months they have been there,” Twomey told Telstra AFL Trade Radio.

“I don’t think it’s just a matter of potentially going back to South Australia for Jack, I think a number of Victorian clubs think they would be a chance of getting him to Victoria as well.

“The reality is as well there’s two clubs in South Australia, there’s a number of big-name clubs in Victoria that would be open and interested in a player of Lukosius’ talent.

“Some see him as a half-back, some see him as a wingman, some see him as a key forward, some see him as a key forward, he’s certainly got some skills.”

In his debut AFL season, Lukosius managed 21 games playing predominantly across half-back.

Fellow prized draft selection Ben King also comes off-contract at the end of 2020.
