The type of player West Coast should look at: Dal Santo

2019-10-11T16:07+11:00

Nick Dal Santo has finished his series of Typewriter segments by looking at the West Coast Eagles.

The three-time All-Australia believes that there isn’t a lot the Eagles need to add, especially after bringing Tim Kelly to the club.

“Their midfield now reads: (Nic) Naitanui in the ruck, (Luke) Shuey, (Elliot) Yeo, Kelly, (Dom) Sheed, (Jack) Redden, (Andrew) Gaff, (Mark) Hutchings,” Dal Santo said on Telstra AFL Trade Radio.

“What do they honestly need? Nothing at all.”

The only gap in the side that Dal Santo could pinpoint comes as a result of Willie Rioli’s suspension.

A forward role is up for grabs according to Dal Santo, but the mould of player they could use to fill that might be very different from Rioli.

“The only type of player that I think that they could use,” Dal Santo added.

“A Christian Petracca type.

“That in between, tall small forward. Ground level, one-on-one, above the head, contested mark. Doesn’t have to run up the ground; doesn’t have to do the bulk of the running.

“A forward that can play in a forward’s role around the like of a (Jack) Darling, a (Josh) Kennedy, an Oscar Allen.”
