Aish set to join Dockers: Cleary

2019-10-16T08:21+11:00

Collingwood defender James Aish will likely be a Fremantle player in 2020, according to Mitch Cleary.

The Pies are facing a salary cap squeeze, needing to re-sign Brodie Grundy, Jordan de Goey and Darcy Moore next season.

Cleary believes Aish will be the one who is pushed out.

“As I read it right now, James Aish will play for Fremantle next year. He’s going to take a three-year deal,” he told Telstra AFL Trade Radio.

Cleary doesn’t believe the Pies are likely to make a move for Crows forward Josh Jenkins.

“As it was put to me last night, the Pies would have to move one more player out to fit Jenkins in, that’s how tight their cap is,” he said.

“Every chance Collingwood could bob up, but as it was put to me last night, they would need to move somebody else.

“That could be a Matt Scharenberg whose name won’t go away. I think he would be the one if there was a suitor. I’m yet to learn of any serious contenders for Scharenberg.”
